How We Help

At The Salvation Army, we help thousands of people every day with local programs designed to meet the unique needs of each community. From providing food and shelter to offering long-term support, we’re here to offer hope and a path forward for those who need it most

Food Pantry

At The Salvation Army, we know that one of the first results to occur in times of crisis is food insecurity, prompting many to look for food assistance programs. A typical visit to one of our food pantries will provide you with a three-to-five-day supply of nutritionally balanced groceries, completely free of charge. Our food pantries supply nonperishable food and dry pantry goods, with a focus on balanced grains, canned vegetables and fruits, proteins, and pasta. Knowing that these may only provide short-term relief, our food pantries also provide resources to help provide longer-term food support, plus access to different food bank locations.

Bring in your photo ID and proof of address and attest to your income status and you can get assistance.

The Food Pantry is open most weekdays.

Please call 304-529-2401 ext. 105 for further information.

Utility Assistance

If you are facing termination of service with Appalachian Power/AEP, Mountaineer Gas, or WV American Water, we may be able to help! At the Salvation Army, we recognize the importance of supporting our community during challenging times. Please contact Lisa Welton, Social Services, at 304-529-2401 ext. 101 for assistance.

 Clothing Pantry

Free clothing is available every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 AM – 12 PM at the Fellowship Hall of the Salvation Army, located at 1223 Third Avenue, Huntington, WV. We invite anyone in need to come by and pick out what they need.
